Halloween Party Ideas
If you are planning to host a Halloween party for either adults or children, then the prospect might seem quite daunting. There are a few steps which can be taken in order to make the Halloween festivities run smoothly. | | Decorations Cover tables and other surfaces that will be used to hold food and drinks with orange and black tablecloths, it might also be possible to purchase table cloths with pumpkins or ghosts on them from shops. Create an eerie atmosphere by using different coloured light bulbs, green works particularly well. Cover room corners with fake cobwebs and then place spiders and bats around the rooms. You could also fix cardboard cut outs of gravestones around the rooms as well, or create coffins by covering shoeboxes with brown paper and then filling the inside with red velvet and a small plastic skeleton. |
Invitations Invitations are an important part of hosting a Halloween party as they will inform your guests of where and when the party will be. It is possible to post invitations to prospective guests, but for a personal touch you could hand deliver them. Most shops will provide standard paper invitations which can be sent to guests; however, if you are feeling creative they can be homemade. Ghosts – use cardboard and cut out ghost shapes which can then be used to contain all the relevant information for the party. Gravestone and coffin – Cut out gravestone shapes and attach them to large match boxes that will have been covered in brown paper. Inside the match box insert a piece of paper which has all the details of the part written on it. Pumpkins – purchase small pumpkins from supermarkets or green grocers. Write the party details on a piece of card and then tie the card to the pumpkin. Games No Halloween party would be complete without a few games to entertain the guests, especially if they are children. There are several games which can be played such as the traditional apple bobbing or the snap apple game, as well as Guess the Body Part, Find the Worms and Ghostbusters. You could also try adapting some much loved games as well. For instance, Pin the tail on the donkey could easily become Pin the tail on the Witches Cat, or create a Halloween treasure hunt, which will have guests scrambling through eerie decorations and tricks in order to find a treat at the end of it. To bring a sense of calm to the evening try reading a scary story. Food A few nibbles will keep most ravenous ghouls satisfied during the Halloween festivities. For many informal Halloween parties, the food will be finger food which has been adapted to look scary but to remain deliciously edible. Try making Monster Toes, Severed Fingers with Poison Dip, or Zombie Brain with Gravestone toast. Make a selection of sandwiches as well but use a Halloween biscuit cutter, such as a ghost shape to cut them. For a formal Halloween dinner, Rats in Blood will be a scrumptious meal. Make a selection of sweet treat as well, such as the traditional Soul Cakes, Spooky Spider Cakes, or Meringue Bones. For a disgusting looking, but delicious tasting drink, try making Witches Potion Punch. |
